About 2,500 years lie between the pyramid and Cleopatra. A little over 2,000 between Cleopatra and the Moon landing.

Ancient antiquity

The Great Pyramid was built around 2600 BC, in about 26 years, from an estimated 2.3 million stone blocks. When Cleopatra became queen in 51 BC, it had already been standing for a good 2,500 years.

The last pharaoh

Cleopatra VII ruled from 51 to 30 BC. She was the last ruler of the Ptolemies, a Macedonian-Greek dynasty. After her death, Egypt became Roman.
